Portfolios containing k12 work samples and class work are due on May 18 for 8th graders and May 25 for seventh graders. Please assemble them at home. Work should be organized in sheet protectors, should be labeled with name and date, and should show evidence of substantial written work (opposed to submitting workbook pages where answers are simply circled).
- Math unit assessments/class work
- Science class work and/or any science work pertaining to semester two
- All written paragraphs/essays from semester two. If you wish to show growth/progress in writing samples, please include the "before & after." The "before" may be a semester one paper.
- At least, three (3), no more than five (5) samples from GUM, Literature, Vocabulary
- Write (type) a one page reflection titled, THE YEAR AT A GLANCE. Ideas include positive experiences, proud moments, fun activities, highlights, etc. You may wish to include thoughts about how well k12 curriculum fit your learning style; how you have become an independent learner; and how working from home had advantages and/or disadvantages.
- Choose one sample assignment from your entire portfolio (any subject) and write a one paragraph reflection about what this particular assignment meant to you. It made you proud; it was challenging; it was newly learned information; it could have been done better, etc.
Aside from the required contents, think of your portfolio as a reflection of you. It is your creation. Add whatever you wish.
For class tomorrow, May 11....
- make sure you are prepared with what you need to create your final pieces of your USA Project. This will be the last class day for working out any last minute kinks. On the day of presentation, it has been suggested that you bring in your project on a flash drive.
- Ms. Leslie will be covering math concepts taken from your AIMS assessment.
A message to all 7-8 graders from Ms. Leslie:
Science work for Ms. Leslie, such as Toondoo, is up for some serious discussion. Many of you failed to identify yourselves on this assignment; others failed to turn it in; others made little effort to complete them properly; and others failed to adequately complete the on line boat assessment done in class last week. You will need to resolve these various issues.
